SBMCC Statement on Federal Acquisition and Procurement Reforms

SBMCC strongly supports the Trump Administration’s initiatives to modernize and streamline federal acquisition and procurement procedures. These transformative efforts will enhance competition and create opportunities for more business providers, thereby expanding the government's access to innovative solutions. For too long, overregulation and lengthy acquisition timelines have undermined the efficiency of the federal procurement process. We are encouraged by the administration’s commitment to putting America First by reducing unnecessary red tape and fostering a more agile, business-friendly environment.

We also appreciate the administration’s efforts to engage directly with American small businesses—valuing their insights and incorporating their feedback to improve government operations—an approach essential to building a more effective and responsive system. These reforms are particularly relevant to programs like FedRAMP, where complex certification requirements and slow acquisition timelines have historically posed barriers to entry for small innovative companies. As the administration promotes commercial and cost-effective solutions, SBMCC welcomes ongoing dialogue that will empower small businesses to deliver their cutting-edge innovations to the federal marketplace.

SBMCC also welcomes the bold and innovative action being undertaken by the leadership of the General Services Administration with the OneGov initiative and the IT Vendor Management Office’s push towards a centralized buyer model. We are encouraged to see the Trump Administration use the market-defining purchasing power of the U.S. Government to create an environment where all American businesses have a chance to succeed, especially small and new companies that have the capability to deliver market-leading solutions. To win the race for AI leadership, we must rely on the boldest and most innovative ideas emerging from our small business community - they are what will secure a decisive victory.
